Community Engagement
Marnel V Scott retired from the State of Illinois Department of Mental Health where she worked for more than 30 years. She held a variety of positions during her tenure where she always lived the motto “but for the grace of God”. She still lives by that philosophy today. Marnel has always felt passionate about family, friends and has a deep concern for others. She grew up in the Southern Suburbs of Chicago before the interstate highways were commonplace and as a result has seen the massive remaking of the landscape and environment. She has seen first hand urban planning and the lack of investments focused on environmental and societal considerations in underserved communities. Marnel is embarking on a new passion, interacting with the underserved communities, their leadership and businesses to foster understanding the impact of the environment on their health and lives. Marnel is an avid gardener and loving grandparent.
